My first year working in a single teacher department after being in a three teacher department, I thought I could do it all... turns out I cannot, but none of us can! After a year of doing this I knew I had to adapt which lead to my chapter having guest coaches for LDE and CDE teams. I know I've been very lucky to have school and community members who can and want to help these students, but I also know that I have a responsibility to the parents to communicate the difference between how the teams I coach run versus guest coaches. Non-teacher Guest Coach
Good morning,
Your student has signed up to join YOUR SCHOOL'S __ judging team. We are very fortunate to have a guest coach willing to help your students learn the ins and outs of this highly specialized contest. COACH NAME has volunteered to help coach this spring and will be point for this team, but I will still be traveling with them to their contests March-April. INSERT SMALL COACH BIO
Our administration has been very supportive of this new team and has purchased most of the necessary equipment needed (ie. hard hats and frocks) but your student will want warm clothing for the contests. COACH NAME will go into more detail about this with students when practices begin later this week. Our invitational contest schedule is finalized and can be found here (INSERT YOUR SCHEDULE). I did want to reach out since your student will have a guest coach, if you have any questions for him or myself please feel free to ask. COACH NAME is an approved chaperone with SCHOOL DISTRICT.
Some student practices are already on the FFA Google Calendar, and will continue to be added as their coach schedules. Practices will be held at INSERT LOCATION so students can evaluate product. If you have any questions during this time please reach out to him (INSERT COACH EMAIL) myself.
